Julien Gaudet’s House offers a welcoming place where people anticipating or affected by the death of a loved one can come for compassion and support throughout their personal journey.

Mission Statement:

Julien Gaudet’s House mission is to support, educate and empower people through their bereavement experience.

Goal #1 Restorative

To empower our guests by providing them with opportunities to engage in restorative relationships and activities that contributes to their personal growth and the success of Julien Gaudet’s House:

To create:

  • a community of bereaved people who share in the responsibility of companioning and nurturing each other
  • opportunities to honour loved ones
  • a safe place to spend time without any demands or judgements

To track participation in:

  • vigils
  • memorials
  • community garden
  • healing garden
  • quiet room
  • breakfast clubs
  • artistic clubs
  • healing practices
  • to provide an opportunity for guests to offer suggestions for improving and/or creating new restorative activities

Short-Term Outcome:
To increase:

  • guest’s connections with other people in similar situations
  • guest’s activity level
  • opportunities for social interaction

Long-Term Outcome:

  • to maximize the quality of life of bereaved people throughout their personal journey

Goal #2 Supportive

To provide evidence-informed support services tailored to individual needs across the life span:

To provide:

  • crisis consultation
  • intake, assessment and referral
  • individual and group counselling
  • children services
  • peer support


  • contacts including characteristics and demographics of guests
  • referral source
  • frequency & duration of participation by program
  • referrals to community resources
  • to obtain feedback from guests about what was and was not helpful with the services provided by Julien’s House and provide an opportunity to offer suggestions
  • for improving service delivery

Short-Term Outcome:
For guest to have:

  • a reduction in the negative impact of the death
  • improved quality of life
  • met their individual bereavement goal(s)

Long-Term Outcome:

  • to maximize the quality of life of bereaved people throughout their personal journey

To raise awareness among the general public, educational in:
